The Sacramento Kings (3-11) take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (14-1) tonight at the Paycom Center in OKC.
The Thunder have been nearly flawless this season — and would be undefeated if not for a two-point loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.
They’re the best defensive team in the league, holding opponents to just 106.4 points per game, and they pair that with the fourth-highest scoring offense at 121.9. That +15 margin explains why they’ve been so dominant.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is in MVP form at 31.9 points per game, Chet Holmgren has taken a leap as the No. 2 option (19.9 PPG), and Ajay Mitchell has emerged as a major steal, averaging 16.3 points as a late second-round pick.
Sacramento, meanwhile, has dropped six straight. Their offense has slowed to 112.9 points per game, and their defense ranks among the league’s worst at 124.4 allowed.
Zach LaVine has cooled off significantly, averaging just 18.0 points this month after posting 29.2 in October. And adding to their problems, Domantas Sabonis — who has steadily improved to 17.2 points per game after a slow start to the season — is out tonight with a knee injury.
Prediction
Given the imbalance and absence of Sabonis, expect the Thunder to win by at least a 20-point margin.
Prediction: Thunder 125, Kings 104
