PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia 76ers star Tyrese Maxey is one of the more competitive players in this league. He does everything he possibly can on a nightly basis to make sure the Sixers are in the best position to succeed as he sets an example every night for his teammates to follow.
Averaging 31.9 points, 7.8 assists, and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 46.1% from the floor and 42.3% from deep, Maxey has put himself squarely in the All-NBA Team conversation. He has been terrific in all facets of the game and the Sixers will continue to follow his lead to make sure they are in the best position possible.
Before they took on the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, Maxey received respect from Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic for how he plays the game every night.
“Tyrese is one of the most helpful guys,” Rajakovic said before Toronto knocked off the Sixers. “He’s doing an outstanding job. He’s playing with such force and pace. He continues to improve his body as well. He looks stronger. He looks like he can run stronger stretches of the game and he’s playing the game with joy. I’ve always admired and respected players who do that.”
Maxey played 38 minutes against the Raptors and put up 24 points on 8-for-14 shooting with nine assists in the loss. Rajakovic and the coaching staff deserve credit for limiting him after halftime as he shot only 3-for-5 for nine points in the second half. The respect the Raptors have for him was obvious as they shaded a ton of attention toward him.
Maxey and the Sixers will now look to bounce back when they take on the Milwaukee Bucks on the road on Thursday.
