The Charlotte Hornets are 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 4-11 record and LaMelo Ball wants out!
Look, I don’t blame him, the Hornets had one interesting thing when Ball arrived to the team and that was Michael Jordan being the owner. Now that Jordan is gone, the most talented of the Ball brothers is stuck in a franchise that simply doesn’t know how to win NBA championships.
Injuries have been a big concern for Ball, but his talent is undeniable and he is one of the future stars of the league. A trade away from Charlotte needs to happen, and the Miami Heat make sense as the team to trade for him.

The Hornets haven’t made a trip to the NBA playoffs since 2016 and it doesn’t seem like the 2025-26 season will end the drought. Since getting drafted with the third overall pick of the 2020 Draft, Ball has been called to be the face of the franchise. With insane alley oops, threes from Saturn, and a unique personality, he has definitely been that guy, but in terms of winning he still has a long way to go.
First-round pick Kon Knueppel has been everything the Hornets hoped for, a dynamic player with insane scoring ability. Averaging 18 points per game with six rebounds per game, he’s leading the way as a two-way player. Despite having two exciting young prospects, the Hornets haven’t found rhythm and are falling behind on the NBA standings.
The Miami Heat have a similar build as the Hornets, the difference is that their stars are a reality, not a work in progress. We have seen Bam Adebayo develop in front of our eyes and now he’s not only a defensive force but an offensive nightmare. Norman Powell and Andrew Wiggins have been great acquisitions and the Heat sit fifth in the NBA standings.
This team is competing in the Eastern Conference without arguably their best player in Tyler Herro, just imagine what they can do when he comes back, or send him to Charlotte in exchange for LaMelo Ball. Look out before the NBA trade deadline, because Ball is the perfect fit for Miami.
