The Brooklyn Nets (2-12) visit the Boston Celtics (8-7) tonight for a Friday night matchup at TD Garden in Boston.
It’s the second meeting of the week between these teams. Boston won the first on Tuesday in Brooklyn, 113–99, behind 29 points from Jaylen Brown on 9-of-19 shooting, with Payton Pritchard adding 22.
Michael Porter Jr. continues to shoulder the bulk of Brooklyn’s offense, scoring 25 in that game and maintaining a 24.2 PPG average through 13 appearances. His durability has been one of the few bright spots for a Nets team clearly in developmental mode.
No. 8 pick Egor Demin is logging real rotation minutes (7.4 points in 20.7 minutes), while No. 22 pick Drake Powell is starting to carve out a role as well, averaging around 20 minutes per game this month despite modest early scoring returns.
Brooklyn recently escaped the one-win basement by beating the Washington Wizards, but the broader issues remain: limited scoring, inconsistent defense, and a young roster growing on the fly.
Boston has won three straight — all against teams with losing records — and remains a solid but unspectacular group without Jayson Tatum. Even so, they’ve taken care of business against bottom-tier opponents, a trend that aligns strongly with tonight’s matchup.
Prediction
Boston’s defense, shot creation, and depth should overwhelm a Nets team still searching for cohesion. Expect the Celtics to control the pace, win the battle on the glass, and pull away early.
Prediction: Celtics 121, Nets 106
