CLEVELAND — The Cavaliers faced the Pacers for the first time since Indiana ended their playoff run in the second round last season and came away with a 120-109 win Nov. 21 at Rocket Arena.

The Pacers, though, were without Tyrese Haliburton, the architect of the wild run to the NBA Finals that eventually ended at the hands of the Oklahoma City Thunder and with Haliburton tearing an Achilles tendon.

The Cavs, who have dealt with a rash of injuries this season, were a bit healthier for this matchup, though.

The Cavs beat the Pacers 120-109.

It was a night when every Cavaliers starter contributed. Four of the five hit the 20-point benchmark, and the fifth — Jaylon Tyson — had 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists.

Donovan Mitchell scored a team-high 32 points on 11-for-22 shooting from the floor to go with nine rebounds and five assists.

Darius Garland, in his return from injury, had a terrific night with 20 points and seven assists. He was also played the key role in putting Indiana way. He first drove the baseline and found De’Andre Hunter for a 3 before hitting a layup the next time done the floor to put it away.

Evan Mobley finished with a double-double (22 points, 11 rebounds). Hunter finished with 20 points and seven rebounds. The Cavs received only 12 points from their bench, but they didn’t need much of it.

The Colts have outscored the Browns 14-7 to start the fourth quarter. Wait, no, that’s not right. The Pacers have outscored the Cavs 14-7 to start the quarter, and Cleveland’s lead is now down to 107-95.

Pascal Siakam (6 points) and T.J. McConnell (5) did most of the damage. Indiana’s ability to go on a run with tempo is showing up again.

The Cavs hit the century mark before the third quarter buzzer and will take a 100-81 lead into the fourth quarter.

Evan Mobley is up to 17 points and 11 rebounds, along with four assists. All five Cavs starters have scored at least 13 points tonight.

The Cavs are starting to create some separation and now own a 95-79 advantage with 1:27 left in the third quarter.

Dean Wade, with the shot clock winding down, hit a turn-around jumper from just inside the 3-point line. Donovan Mitchell, a few possessions earlier, hit a step-back 3 and now has 26 points, six rebounds and three assists, though he’s also up to four fouls.

Evan Mobley is nearing a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Jaylon Tyson made his own impact during this Cavs run, and he’s now up to 14 points and five rebounds in 20 minutes on the floor tonight.

Darius Garland had a tremendous first half in his return from injury, and the Cavs lead the Pacers 62-55 at halftime.

Garland has a game-high 18 points on 4-for-8 shooting from the floor, and he’s made three of his four attempts from 3-point range.

Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley added 12 points each. On one play, Mitchell drove to the basket and had his momentum carry him into the first few rows of fans. He appears to be fine.

The Cavs lead 44-41 with 6:49 left in the second quarter.

Cleveland has hit only 3 of 12 shots from 3-point range, but Evan Mobley’s 12 points and Donovan Mitchell’s 10 has been enough for the Cavs to maintain a tight advantage.

Meanwhile, Browns tight end David Njoku is in attendance and during a T-shirt toss was firing missiles into the second deck.

Darius Garland, in his return, has eight points and three assists.

The Cavs will take a 33-31 lead over the Pacers into the second quarter.

Evan Mobley and Andrew Nembhard are tied for a game-high 12 points in the first 12 minutes.

The Cavs again started slow from 3-point range, hitting just three of their 11 attempts. They also were ice cold from 3-point range to start their No. 19 game.

Donovan Mitchell has remained in the game and appears to be OK, Evan Mobley already has 10 points and two rebounds and the Cavs are holding a 31-26 lead over the Pacers with 2:11 left in the opening quarter.

Mobley has been working on his free-throw stroke and appears to be off to a better start.

The Cavs hold a 6-5 lead over the Pacers with 8:49 left in the first quarter, but all of their attention for the moment is on All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell.

Mitchell attempted a 3-pointer near the far sideline and stayed down for a few moments, appearing to injury his ankle. He might have landed wrong.

Mitchell stayed down as the Pacers advanced the ball and after an Indiana miss, he got up for the Cleveland possession before a timeout was called.

He’s staying in the game.
