Atlanta Hawks vs Charlotte Hornets Preview
The Atlanta Hawks have plenty of reasons to be satisfied with their performances so far. They opened the season poorly, winning just one of their first four games — a narrow victory over the Orlando Magic. After that, however, the team began playing much better. In the 10 games following their last loss to the Chicago Bulls, they recorded eight wins, with the only setbacks coming against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Toronto Raptors. Even so, that stretch significantly improved their record and their position in the standings. To be fair, the schedule in the following two games didn’t work in their favor, as they faced tough matchups against the Phoenix Suns, the red-hot Detroit Pistons, and the San Antonio Spurs — resulting in two routine defeats.
They managed to bounce back from that mini-slump thanks to the New Orleans Pelicans. It’s hard to imagine a better opponent after such a demanding stretch, especially considering how poorly the Pelicans have played so far this season. The Hawks started the game a bit slowly, allowing the hosts to control the opening period and trailing by four points after the first 12 minutes. From that moment on, they shifted into a higher gear on both ends of the floor and built a double-digit lead by halftime. They kept full control of the game the rest of the way and even extended the margin, securing a convincing 98–115 win. Kristaps Porziņģis delivered an excellent performance, leading all scorers with 29 points and seven rebounds. Jalen Johnson stood out once again, finishing just one assist shy of a triple-double with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.
The Charlotte Hornets have looked very poor throughout the season. There was initial optimism that injuries might finally spare them and allow them to be more competitive than in previous years, but that quickly proved unrealistic. The team has been unable to find any rhythm and has struggled on both ends of the court — especially defensively, where they rank as the sixth-worst team in the league in defensive rating. Their injury luck has also taken a turn for the worse again, most notably with the absence of LaMelo Ball, which is one of the major reasons they currently sit 12th in the Eastern Conference with a 4–12 record. They are now on a five-game losing streak, and in two of those defeats, they had the game all but won before throwing it away due to poor decisions down the stretch.
Their form heading into this matchup is far from encouraging. First, they were defeated by a severely depleted Indiana Pacers team, and then they were outplayed by the Los Angeles Clippers. Although the Hornets were underdogs in that game, a stronger showing was expected. From the opening minutes, the Clippers dictated the pace and built an eight-point lead after the first quarter. Charlotte managed to bring the game back to level terms by halftime, but the third quarter proved decisive. Their defensive issues resurfaced, the Clippers punished them immediately, and the visitors pulled ahead by double digits — a lead they never relinquished, ultimately winning 116–131 and extending the Hornets’ losing streak. The bright spot for Charlotte was Kon Knueppel, who led the team with 26 points and continues to earn respect with his strong play this season.

Where to Watch Atlanta Hawks vs Charlotte Hornets?
Atlanta Hawks vs Charlotte Hornets Best Betting Tip and Prediction
As expected, the Atlanta Hawks enter this matchup as clear and overwhelming favorites. Despite having slightly less rest, it is evident that they possess significantly more quality than the Charlotte Hornets. Atlanta should be able to fully exploit the Charlotte Hornets’ extremely poor defense, while on the other end focusing on slowing down their transition game. Therefore, our recommendation is a home win with the Atlanta Hawks covering the offered spread.
