James Harden delivered a historic, record-smashing performance on Saturday, erupting for 55 points to lead the Los Angeles Clippers past the Charlotte Hornets and rewrite the franchise record book.

The 36-year-old guard broke the Clippers’ single-game scoring record, surpassing the long-standing 52-point mark previously shared by Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo and Charles Smith.

Harden becomes the only player in NBA history to hold the single-game scoring record for multiple franchises, adding the Clippers to a résumé that already includes record nights in Houston and Brooklyn.

Harden’s statline was blistering: 55 points on 17-of-26 shooting, 10 three-pointers, seven assists, three rebounds and a steal. He outscored the rest of the Clippers’ starters by 10 and finished 24 points ahead of the bench.

The explosion included 35 first-half points, a barrage of deep threes -several over Hornets rookie Liam McNeeley — and multiple four-point play attempts.

Despite his historic night, Harden’s focus stayed team-first:

“The work I put in individually, I do it for the entire team. I’m just trying to find ways to win games.”

Harden’s message after the record night?

“We’re continuing to push… It’s gonna be like this every night. Basketball is life.”

The win moves the Clippers to 5–11, still digging out of an early-season hole despite star power in Harden and Kawhi Leonard.
