The New Orleans Pelicans got James Borrego his first win as Interim head coach with a 143-130 victory Monday night over the Chicago Bulls at Smoothie King Center.
The 143 points are by far a season high for New Orleans, who entered the game averaging 108 points per game.
New Orleans started fast, taking a 37-30 lead after one quarter and the Pelicans kept their foot on the gas throughout.
While Zion Williamson returned and was good with 29 points, it was the bench which decided the game for New Orleans.
Pelicans for New Orleans combined for 51 points, led by Jose Alvarado with 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists and Yves Missi, who had by far his best game of the season with 14 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Saddiq Bey was outstanding with 20 points and 14 rebounds while Trey Murphy also scored 20 points.
New Orleans had eight of its nine players who saw action score in double figures in a tremendously balanced effort.
For a change, the Pelicans dominated the boards by a wide margin of 55-33.
New Orleans, which led by as many as 22 points, shot 51 percent from the field and destroyed the Bulls in the paint, outscoring Chicago 78-44.
The Pelicans (3-15), return to action at home Wednesday night against Memphis.
