Good morning! Aren’t you happy you aren’t a Nets fan?

What to make of a game that had almost no upside for the Knicks?

The 3-13 (now 3-14) Nets, who have as many home wins this season as Tyler Kolek has 360 windmill dunks, are not exactly a measuring stick opponent. One treats them as one treats the gizzard of a Thanksgiving turkey: you wrestle with it for a little bit before getting it out of the way and into the trash so more important matters can be tended to. Beating the Nets in the Barclay’s Center (#87Strong) is only slightly more impressive.

On the flip side, if the Knicks ever lost to Brooklyn, we’d have had to cancel Thanksgiving altogether. What could any of us possibly be grateful for in such circumstances.

Alas, New York did what New York has done for 11 (now 12) straight times, and that’s treat the Nets like the people of Brooklyn have, showing some mild interest before moving on to something far more interesting.

Can we take anything from a win that was wholly expected going in? I say yes.

For one, to get that performance from Karl-Anthony Towns less than 48 hours after a game that had pitchfork rental businesses closing early for lack of inventory was absolutely #meaningful, regardless of the opponent.
