LeBron James decided to step in and make his feelings clear when hearing Steve Nash share a personal ranking list. Some fans may be aware that the Los Angeles Lakers star hosts a podcast called “Mind the Game.” Although it initially began with JJ Redick sitting alongside James, Nash took over the role after Redick became the Lakers’ coach.

As a result, fans have been treated to various humorous interactions, as well as educational moments, when James and Nash release a new episode. In the latest one, Nash decided to respond to a fan, prompting James to chime in.

LeBron James Supports Steve Nash’s Position as One of the Best Players in Phoenix Suns History

During his 18-year-long career in the league, Nash averaged 14.3 points, 8.5 assists, and three rebounds. Listed at 6’3″ and gifted with elite court vision and facilitating abilities, Nash can be viewed as one of the top point guards in the history of the league.

Nash started his career with the Suns and spent 10 seasons with the organization. Although he was unable to lead the Suns to a championship, veteran fans will remember the deep postseason runs Nash took the team on.

When asked to reveal his own personal Mt. Rushmore of the greatest players in Suns history, Nash began by pointing out that Charles Barkley, Devin Booker, and Kevin Johnson deserved to be mentioned among the top players in franchise history.

Nash was pondering over the final spot on his list when James overheard him. The four-time NBA champion mentioned Nash’s name and claimed that he would say it even if Nash were too humble to admit that he belonged on his own Mt. Rushmore list.

Upon hearing this unexpected praise, Nash grinned and admitted that he, too, likely met the criteria, given the duration of his career with the Suns. He also chose to include Jason Kidd alongside himself for the final position, claiming that any of them could cut.

Given that none of these stars were able to lead the Suns to a title, their ranking is based on individual abilities and accomplishments, as well as the deep playoff pushes each star helped carry the team through. This also explains why stars such as Shaquille O’Neal, who spent a brief part of his career with the Suns, are not on Nash’s list.

In any case, it is good to see that James is supporting Nash’s case as one of the greatest players in the Suns’ franchise history. If James can lead the Lakers to another NBA championship, there is no denying that he will be placed at one of the top positions in the Lakers’ Mt. Rushmore of NBA greats.
