Last season, you were high in the Most Improved Player conversation. I get the feeling that wasn’t something you were necessarily taking a lot of pride in — that your goals, your individual goals for yourself, were much higher than something like that. Cade Cunningham: Yeah. Most Improved Player was, I think, a great honor to be, you know, considered for. I mean, it shows whoever improved the most from year to year — you know what I mean? I think that’s a huge accomplishment for somebody that puts in the work in the summertime. It says a lot about how much work you put in. So to be considered for it, I thought was amazing. But like you’re saying, it’s not who I see myself as — just a Most Improved Player award winner. I see myself as somebody that should be considered at the highest level, and that’s what I work for every day. So I thought it was a great award to be considered for, but I wasn’t heartbroken not to win. You know, I’m going to keep on marching. YouTube | Nov. 25, 2025
You’re from Dallas. What made you embrace this place [Detroit] immediately? Cade Cunningham: There were a lot of factors that went into it. I think the culture is number one. The city of Detroit just seemed like a place with a lot of cool people — you know what I’m saying? Like, they love the sports teams, they love the music, they love being from Detroit. And that’s something I always found cool. Texas is a place where we’re super proud to be Texans, you know? And I think Detroit is the same way — people are just so proud to be from Detroit. That was something I wanted to be a part of. And the history of the Pistons is unmatched. I mean, Isaiah Thomas, Chauncey — there are so many guys who are just huge. They’re legends in the NBA, you know what I mean? And this franchise itself is a legend of the NBA. YouTube | Nov. 25, 2025
Cade Cunningham on MVP award: That’s not what this season is about for me, though. This season is about winning a Finals, more than anything. A Finals MVP — I’d be way more happy about that than a regular MVP. You know what I mean? I think an MVP will come one day — Lord willing — if I can stay healthy and continue to grow. I think I can. But this team being successful is my number one goal. YouTube | Nov. 25, 2025
Omari Sankofa II: FINAL: Pistons 122, Pacers 117. Led by 18, got it cut to two late before free throws from Cunningham and LeVert clinched it. Pistons (15-2 overall) have tied their franchise record with 13-straight wins. x.com | Nov. 24, 2025
Carmelo Anthony on Cade Cunningham getting signature shoe: Your first shoe going to always do well. Because it’s the hype. It’s the momentum. It’s today. Detroit’s number one in the East. Cade Cunningham is the name. The next rising guard, the next top guard, the next MVP. He’s getting all of that. Oh, and by the way, Detroit is a big market. YouTube | Nov. 23, 2025
Kendrick Perkins: My sources are also telling me, the big fella, that Detroit has a lot of interest in old Anthony Davis. (…) You got to match the money. You get rid of Tobias Harris who’s making a lot of money on the expiring contract, right? You’ll be able to pull off maybe some young talent, but long as you keep Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren and you bring AD over there to that Pistons squad… YouTube | Nov. 23, 2025
Omari Sankofa II: FINAL: Pistons 129, Bucks 116 The Pistons have snapped a 13-game losing streak to the Bucks and have won 12-straight to improve to 14-2 overall. One short of their franchise record, which is 13 wins. Cade Cunningham led the way with 29 pts, 10 assts and 8 rebs. Ivey scored 10. Twitter @omarisankofa | Nov. 22, 2025
Oh No He Didn’t: Danny Green on Cade: “I’m thinking SGA. He’s looking like the SGA of the east to me, playing at his own pace, taking his time. What’s more impressive to me is how they’ve gotten wins with him out of the lineup. Question can they win 28 (in a row)? That’ll be impressive. If they do that, Cade Cunningham, he might be MVP” x.com | Nov. 19, 2025
