There are three things for which I am an avid fanatic- San Antonio Spurs, Star Wars, and Foo Fighters. One of my greatest joys is when the Spurs began hosting annual Star Wars nights. If they could somehow loop Dave Grohl in as Darth Vader, my universe would be complete.

What’s better than getting Dave Grohl involved? Finding our Victor Wembanyama is a devout Star Wars fan. And just like any true devotee of the galaxy far, far away, the NBA’s newest Jedi has some strong opinions.

“When I say ‘Star Wars’ I don’t count the three last…I’m more of a prequel fan even though I love the original trilogy.”

He ranked his three favorites as Revenge of the Sith, followed by Attack of the Clones, and Empire Strikes Back as his third favorite.

Given his age I can respect his adoration for the prequels, but at my age I prefer the original three. That said, Revenge of The Sith ranks higher for me that Return of the Jedi. Something about those Ewoks just doesn’t resonate after all these years.

I’d be curious to know how Wemby feels about the one-off films, particularly Rogue One as well as the series that have emerged through Jon Favreau.

Either way, knowing Victor is into the movies makes me respect him that much more.

In the meantime, Wembanyama continues to miss playing due to a calf strain. Hopefully, he will be back in action soon.
