UConn’s Azzi Fudd explains Sarah Strong continues to grow on the court

Azzi Fudd explains how her Huskies teammate, Sarah Strong, has impressed with her offensive and defensive growth this season.

The No. 1 ranked UConn women’s basketball team opened Big East play by crushing Xavier, 104-39, on Sunday, Nov. 30, at Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Huskies start their quest toward a sixth consecutive conference title. UConn has 31 regular-season conference titles and 30 conference tournament championships to its credit.

The Huskies defense was on point in the thrashing with 20 steals. Xavier had 31 turnovers that led to 42 UConn points.

Six players were in double figures for the Huskies. Allie Ziebell had 16 points including five 3-pointers. Sophomore sensation Sarah Strong had 14 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Azzi Fudd added 12 points on four 3s.

Xavier (4-3) managed three points in the fourth quarter. Vivien Nejašmić scored 12 points to lead the Musketeers.
