The Cleveland Cavaliers’ G-League affiliate set new highs for points in a quarter and points in a half with a 135-117 rout of the Windy City Bulls on Sunday.
CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Charge made history on Sunday afternoon, setting two new franchise records in a 135-117 dismantling of the Windy City Bulls.
In the second game of a back-to-back series in suburban Chicago, the Cavaliers’ G-League affiliate avenged the seven-point loss they suffered on Friday and set new highs for points in a quarter (45) and points in a half (88) in the process.
The previous benchmark was for most points in a single frame was 44, a figure the team achieved once in 2012 and again in 2022. On Sunday, the Charge nearly exceeded that record twice; Cleveland finished the first quarter with a 43-20 lead before scoring the record-setting 45 in the second. Their 88 first half points bested the previous record of 83, set in the second half of a 2018 blowout of Long Island.
Guard Killian Hayes and forward Tristan Enaruna led the way for Cleveland with 23 and 26 points, respectively. They were helped by a double-double from Chaney Johnson, who contributed 16 points and 11 rebounds.Â
Bulls forward Kevin Knox II racked up a team-leading 37 points in the loss shooting 11-20 from field goal range.Â
Cleveland also tied its franchise record of 35 team assists in the drubbing. At its most lopsided point Sunday, the Charge led the game by 40.
The Charge will return home to Public Hall on Wednesday to begin a two-game tie with the Noblesville Boom, the Indiana Pacers affiliate.
