DALLAS — So make it a franchise-record five games with at least 140 points for the Miami Heat this season, as in three more than any other team.

But while they’re making it look easy, center Bam Adebayo is quick to caution otherwise, with ample work having gone into the process by coach Erik Spoelstra and his staff.

“We have a team and a system that we’ve obviously taken a long summer to build this,” Adebayo said in the wake of Monday night’s 140-123 victory over the visiting Los Angeles Clippers. “And then you look at the last two years and Spo just scrapped the book — it’s like this is how we’re going to play, we’re going to play totally different, we want to play fast, we want to play with pace.

“We’ve built a team that can sustain that.”

Monday night it meant all five starters with at least 16 points.

“I think it’s getting more comfortable for all of us,” said guard Norman Powell, who led the Heat on Monday night with 30 points. “Every single game it’s going to be a little different, the flow and how it goes.

“So it’s all about all of us picking our spots and playing off of one another. We play so fast and have so many possessions that everybody’s going to be able to get their touches and find their moments throughout the course of the game.”

Against the Pistons the scoring came through a barrage of 3-pointers, the 24 tying the Heat franchise record.

“I think the more and more we play together, understand all of our spots and where we like to have the ball, we’re going to keep growing and the scoring’s going to keep come in bunches,” Powell said, with the Heat now off on a two-game trip opening Wednesday against the Dallas Mavericks.

A career-high five of those 3-pointers against the Clippers came from Adebayo, who has been given the freedom to move at will in the new offense.

“I can be on the wing, I can be on the top of the key, I can be in the corner, I can be in the short corner, so they’re giving me different ways to figure out where my shot chart is coming from,” he said.

Now Larsson

After a night of the primary rotation being whole for a rare moment at the start this season, forward Pelle Larsson was lost for the second half Monday night.

An MRI on Tuesday showed a toe sprain. He is  listed as questionable for Wednesday night and  day-to-day going forward.

“He says that he’ll be all right. Don’t they all say that?” Spoelstra said.

“But at least the initial diagnosis from him and the trainers are that he could be OK.”

Larsson traveled with the Heat on Tuesday.

The Heat otherwise were whole Monday night with the exception of forward Keshad Johnson being out due to illness and Terry Rozier being on NBA leave amid the federal gambling probe.

Johnson (illness) and Powell (ankle sprain) are listed as questionable against the Mavericks.

Revenge of Norm

While there were several warm embraces for Powell following Monday night’s game, empathy also was somewhat limited.

In the wake of trading Powell to the Heat in July, the Clippers exited Monday night’s game at 5-16, with the Heat by contrast at 14-7.

“I wouldn’t have ever guessed that they were going to be 5-16 and where they’re at right now,” Powell. “That’s something for them to have to deal with and handle. But yeah, I’m not worried about them anymore.”
