Nikola Jokic is in the driver’s seat for this year’s MVP, winning the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Month for the combined period of October and November.

Jokic’s ninth win of the honor came on the back of a 14-5 Denver Nuggets start to the season, where the three-time MVP became the first player in NBA history a player score at least 550 points, throw 200 or more assists and snag more than 235 rebounds in a 19-game span. That comes out to 28.9 points, 12.4 rebounds and 10.9 assists per game while shooting an obscne 63.7% from the field, 45.3% from deep and 85.2% from the line.

The NBA announced the award on Tuesday, touting the 30-year-old’s 10 triple-doubles to bring his career regular-season total to 181, nine shy of Oscar Robertson for second-most in NBA history. Jokic also had eight 30-point games, a dozen games with 12 or more boards and seven games with at least 12 helpers.

Jokic started the season right from the opening jump, going for four straight triple-doubles and tying Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook for the longest consecutive triple-double streak to start a season in NBA history.

During November, Jokic picked up his seventh career game of 30 or more points, 15 or more rebounds, and 15 or more assists in a win against Miami. The only player with more such games is Oscar Robertson.

Jokic also had the third-highest scoring game of his career in a win against the Clippers, scoring 55 points.

The Nuggets relied on their star heavy to close the month with injuries to Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon impacting the team. Jamal Murray got banged up in December’s first game, so it may be an even heavier dose of Jokic to carry the Nuggets through the next month.
