The Portland Trail Blazers erased a 15-point fourth-quarter deficit to challenge Toronto down the stretch before coming up short, 121-118, to begin a four-game road trip Tuesday night.

Portland gave itself a measure of hope with a 10-point run early in the fourth quarter, getting a finger roll layup by Deni Avdija to close to within 104-100 with 6:16 to play.

The Trail Blazers continued to close in when Shaedon Sharpe converted a layup in the lane, followed by a pair of free throws on the next trip down the floor to shrink the margin to two points approaching three minutes remaining.

Jerami Grant sank a deep 3-pointer to bring the Blazers within two points once again, but with only 0:02 on the clock it proved to be Portland’s final shot of the night.

Avdija led the Blazers with 25 points, while Sharpe poured in 23 and Toumani Camara added 21.
