Zion Williamson was the most hyped player to enter the NBA since LeBron James when he was drafted. The New Orleans Pelicans picked him with the No. 1 overall pick in 2019. However, conditioning and injury issues have been the story of his career, and NBA fans think the latest Zion injury might be the final straw.
Williamson has proven that he can perform at the highest level. He’s been named an NBA All-Star twice. He has never led the Pelicans to the postseason, though. And in the six seasons before this one, Zion has played an average of just 35 games a year. He’s played only 10 of 22 to start this year, and is now due to miss more.

Williamson returned Nov. 19 after missing just over two weeks with a hamstring injury, playing in five of the Pelicans’ past seven games before sustaining this adductor strain — which will sideline him for a much longer period. https://t.co/EtxDvruVEZ

“New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson will miss extended time with a right adductor injury, sources tell ESPN,” Shams Charania reported. “He will be re-evaluated in three weeks.”
Fan reactions to the news seemed largely uninterested; it seems even his biggest supporters are losing faith.
“Really sad how the injuries don’t stop with Zion, hard to have any confidence in him,” one fan wrote. “If I had a nickel for every time Zion gets hurt, I’d be a rich mf,” said another.

“Death, taxes, and Zion missing time,” a third fan commented. “Pels need to accept that this dude is never going to be what we wanted him to be,” another said.
“Zion is basically a professional physio patient who plays hoops on the side,” said a fifth fan. “Pelicans fans deserve hazard pay. Every season starts with hope and ends with a medical report,” claimed a sixth.

Williamson is only just 25, but time is running out. This is his seventh NBA season, and his health concerns seem to only get worse. If he cannot be on the court, he cannot impact winning. A 3-19 record for the Pelicans means they might just give up on Zion and move towards a rebuild soon.
