Against the Longhorns, the Wolfpack battled back from a double-digit halftime deficit and took a 71-70 lead with 7:51 remaining before Texas answered with a 10-0 run and was never threatened again. McNeese transfer Quadir Copeland finished with 28 points and six assists, North Carolina transfer Ven-Allen Lubin added 23 points and nine rebounds, and sophomore Paul McNeil Jr. tossed in 20 points. Will Wade came over from McNeese to take over the program this season after NC State went 12-19.
