The Los Angeles Clippers shockingly parted ways with Chris Paul earlier this week. The 40-year-old legend was in his final NBA season, but that didn’t stop the Clippers from sending him home. CP is arguably one of the franchise’s best-ever players, making this move even more surprising.
Reports have since come out suggesting that Paul had issues with Ty Lue and the coaching staff. Whatever the case may be, to drop the Point God during his farewell tour is truly ruthless. And Golden State Warriors man Draymond Green used that example to warn other NBA players about the nature of the business.

“There will always be finger-pointing, that’s just the way s**t goes,” Green said on The Draymond Green show. “Holding management, coaches, and players accountable seems like something that needs to be done in order to win at a high level. I think those things must be done in an organization to be competitive.
“CP has always been that guy to hold everyone accountable. The facts are the facts. CP is as great as we all know he is. It’s unfortunate. If that can be done to Chris Paul, imagine what can be done to the rest of us, so I think if you’re an NBA player, this should bother you.”

Paul was the engine behind the Lob City Clippers and made the franchise relevant in his prime. Green’s point in this scenario is extremely pertinent. If CP can be treated this way by the organization, it shows that players can never really count on the team to have their backs.
