The Eagles are struggling to find consistency this season. At 4-5, their offense continues to plague their success, with the team shooting a mere 40% from the field and 28.9% from three. There are spurts in these games where they show they can function offensively, but costly mistakes and decision making is what’s holding the team from scoring efficiently. They did show some fight versus LSU, which is a good sign despite the loss. It’s still relatively early this season and there is always time to improve, so what better way to do that versus an inferior opponent in New Haven?

New Haven enters this game with a 5-4 record. The team has won three straight – following a 92-69 victory over Mitchell College. The Chargers rely heavily on their guard play between Jabri Fitzpatrick and Najimi George, who lead the team in scoring, but aren’t serious threats as passers as the two guards combined average 3.6 assists a night. For context, Chase Forte and Fred Payne average just under six assists per night. Overall, the Chargers score efficiently at 46% from the floor, in large part because of the lighter schedule they’ve had during their past three contests. It’s the Chargers story so far this year in that they defeat the lesser opponents but are largely overmatched versus the tougher teams. Going on the road to Boston College will not be similar to facing Mitchell College – The Eagles do not want to lose to an NEC team again this year.

This should be a get right game for the Eagles as they prepare for tougher games ahead once the New Year rolls around. Take care of the ball, lock up on defense, control the pace, and focus on taking a more steady offensive approach.

Prediction: Boston College 81, New Haven 63
