Brooklyn Nets guard D’Angelo Russell had an interesting 2024-25 NBA season as he began the campaign with the Los Angeles Lakers, but ended it with the Nets. Russell came to Brooklyn in a midseason trade that gave the Nets the point guard they needed at the time and while he’s a free-agent this summer, he’s looking to share some of his free time with his fans.

Russell is currently in Kunming, Beijing as part of the promotion of his first signature sneaker, the “Dlo 1” series, and it seems that his fanbase extends beyond the borders of the United States, according to a couple of posts on X from NetsDaily. NetsDaily also notes that each fan had to pay the equivalent of $300 to be at the particular event to ask him questions and take pictures with him.

“Every signature shoe tells a story. For NBA star D’Angelo Russell, that story is one of evolution—marked by moments of breakthrough, quiet resilience, and iconic celebrations,” per the blog post pertaining to Russell’s shoe release on wayofwade.com. Russell’s shoe is under the Way of Wade brand owned by current co-owner of the Utah Jazz and former NBA Hall-of-Famer Dwyane Wade.

Russell, 29, is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he averaged 12.6 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game while shooting 39.0% from the field and 31.4% from three-point land. During his 29 games with the Nets, Russell put forth 12.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 1.1 steals per contest on 36.7/29.7/82.6 shooting splits at the end of his 10th season in the league.

Russell will be a unrestricted free-agent this summer after completing the second year of the two-year, $36 million contract that he signed with the Lakers two years ago. It’s unknown where Russell will be playing next season, but it seems like things are looking up for him off the court as he has finally has his own signature shoe and fans who are celebrating the monumental occasion with him.
