The former New Albany High School star and University of Missouri standout is in his second year of professional basketball.

The 26-year-old East is playing for the Salt Lake City Stars of the NBA G League.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound guard had 26 points, four assists, three rebounds and one steal off the bench in the Stars’ 139-132 triumph over the Stockton Kings on Nov. 22. He went 8 for 12 from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range, and 3 for 4 from the foul line while also committing three fouls and one turnover

Two days later, East had 22 points and four assists off the bench in Salt Lake City’s 149-122 win over Stockton. He finished 7 for 11 from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range, and 2 for 2 from the free throw line while also committing three turnovers and two fouls in 21 minutes of action.

On Nov. 28, East finished with 15 points, six assists, three rebounds and two steals off the bench in the Stars’ 126-112 triumph over the Santa Cruz Warriors. He went 5 for 8 from the field, including 2 of 3 from 3-point range, and 2 for 2 from the free throw line while also committing one foul in 18 minutes.

The next day, East had 14 points, six assists and two rebounds off the bench in Salt Lake City’s 133-103 win over Santa Cruz. He finished 7 for 9 from the field, including 0 of 2 from 3-point range, and 0 for 1 from the free throw line while also committing three turnovers and one foul in 23 minutes of action.

On Tuesday, East totaled six points, five assists, three rebounds and one steal off the bench in the Stars’ 136-105 victory over the South Bay Lakers. He was 2 for 5 from the field and 2 for 2 from the free throw line while also committing one foul and one turnover.

So far this season, East is averaging 16.7 points, five assists, two rebounds and 24.1 minutes over nine games with Salt Lake City. He’s shooting 53.8 percent from the field, including 48.3 percent from the 3-point line, and 88.5 percent from the free throw line.

The Stars (8-1) will visit the Stockton Kings tonight before visiting the Rip City Remix next Tuesday.
