LA Lakers vs. Philadelphia 76ers preview
This will be the Lakers’ final game of their three-game road trip in the East, and they’ll aim to finish it on a high note. After ending November on a seven-game win streak, Los Angeles has gone 1–2 over its last three outings and will look to regain momentum on Sunday.
Despite being one of the league’s stronger teams, the Lakers haven’t excelled in any one area and have been fairly average on both ends of the floor. They own the NBA’s 10th-best offense at 118.6 points per game, while their defense gives up 116.5 points per game, the 16th-best mark.
Luka Doncic has been the Lakers’ standout performer, leading the team across the board with 35.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 8.9 assists. Reaves has complemented him well, contributing 29.3 points and 6.4 assists per game.
Opening the season with a 4–1 record, the 76ers dropped eight of their 14 games last month. However, they have started to regain momentum and come into this matchup on a three-game winning streak.
Similar to the Lakers, the 76ers’ rise cannot be attributed to any one area. They’ve been solid but unspectacular across the board, averaging 117.3 points per game (16th in the league) while allowing 116.3 points per game on defense (14th in the league).
However, they can attribute their success to Tyrese Maxey, the guard has led the team from the front, averaging 31.6 points and 7.2 assists per game. Meanwhile, Quentin Grimes has been their second-best performer, recording 17.0 points per game.
In terms of injuries, both teams will be without key players, but the 76ers carry the greater burden. Joel Embiid and Paul George are listed as questionable, while Kelly Oubre Jr. and Trendon Watford have been ruled out of the matchup.
Meanwhile, the Lakers will be missing Marcus Smart, while LeBron James‘ availability will remain a game-time decision.
