There is still a long way to go before the 2026 NBA draft, which takes place next June, but now that the college basketball season is a month deep into its current schedule, it is worth taking a look at who might land where in the summer’s selection process.
There is no shortage of early mock drafts, including The Athletic’s recent offering from Sam Vecenie. In his words, “NBA scouts have traveled around the country to see the top prospects. It’s as good a time as any to update the 2026 NBA Mock Draft and explain what scouts are thinking as we head into the holiday season.”
Unsurprisingly, there are two Florida Gators mentioned in his mock — one in each of the first and second rounds. Through the opening 30 selections, forward Thomas Haugh lands at No. 12 after an explosive start to the 2025-26 campaign, selected by the Memphis Grizzlies.
Thomas Haugh: First Round (12), Memphis Grizzlies
“Haugh has taken the momentum he built during Florida’s national-title sprint and run with it. He continues to be a massive mismatch problem because he’s such a well-rounded player at 6-9 with athleticism and skill. He’s averaging 18.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists and has been the least of the Gators’ problems on the defensive end.”
The 22-year-old wing out of New Oxford, Pennsylvania, is a very intriguing player to the experts, according to Venecie.
“Scouts consistently say that he looks like a player typically taken between No. 10 and No. 20. Why? They see a player who knows how to play off the ball in a highly effective manner and doesn’t need many touches to score. He’s dynamic in transition, filling lanes and even occasionally leading the break while covering ground quickly with long strides,” he notes.
“He’s a sharp relocator around the court, drifting and sliding along the 3-point line to create open looks. The shooting has been up and down, and he’s only making 31.8% from 3 this season. Over his last 42 games, Haugh has made 34.1% from 3 on his three attempts per game. If he improves that, he’ll be right in this mid-first-round ballpark.”
Alex Condon: Second Round (50), Washington Wizards (via MIN)
The other Gator who earned a mention was forward/center Alex Condon, who has not had quite as hot of a start to the season as his fellow frontcourt colleague. The 6-foot-11-inch, 21-year-old from Perth, Australia, was projected by some last year to be taken near the end of the first round of the 2025 draft, only to return to Gainesville for his junior season looking to improve his draft cred.
So far, he has averaged a robust 15.1 points per game while grabbing 63 rebounds (23 offensive, 40 defensive; 9.0 per game) while dishing out 21 assists, swatting seven shots and snagging six steals. The power forward has made 53.6% of his shots from the field overall and 69.8% from the charity stripe, but an embarrassing 2-for-15 (13.3%) from beyond the arc.
There is still plenty of basketball left to play, and it seems mostly probable that Condon improves his draft stock significantly before the season concludes.
