The Denver Nuggets are on a roll right now, and on Dec. 7, they went on to pick up their 17th win of the season with a (115-106) victory over the Charlotte Hornets. But surprisingly, it is not just the win that is making the headlines. It is Nikola Jokić’s latest milestone that has the NBA world talking.
Nikola Jokić Has Achieved a Unique Milestone on Sunday Night
After the win against the Hornets, a unique stat was revealed. It was Jokić who recorded 11 assists on Sunday night. This brought his total career assists to 5,636.
By hitting that number, he officially passed NBA legend Michael Jordan, who finished his career with 5,633 assists. To make it even more special, Jokić also tied Chauncey Billups, who also had 5,636 career assists.
With 11 assists tonight, Jokic has tied Chauncey Billups at the 51st place on the all-time assists leaderboard with 5636. He also surpassed Michael Jordan (5633).

This is not the first time this season that Jokić has showcased his elite abilities, as on Nov. 12 against the Clippers, he put on one of the most elite performances of the year. He tied the highest-scoring output of the NBA season with 55 points.
In that game, the Nuggets defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 130-116, proving once again that Jokić is not only a passing machine but also a formidable scoring force.
“It’s a good feeling,” said Jokić after that game.
If we see against the Hornets on Sunday, Jokić continued to display his leadership. He finished the game with 28 points and nine rebounds. However, it was Jamal Murray who led the scoring charge for Denver. He dropped 34 points in 35 minutes and gave the Hornets’ defense constant problems throughout the night.
In the game, the Nuggets started slowly, as the score was tied at 34-34 after the first quarter. This actually showed that Charlotte came ready to the game to compete. The Nuggets slipped slightly in the second quarter and went into halftime trailing by one point.
But everything changed in the second half when Denver regained full momentum. Their sharp offense allowed them to control the tempo, and in the fourth quarter, they built a 14-point lead, the largest of the game. They eventually defeated the Hornets.
With this record-breaking moment, all eyes remain on Jokić. Denver will next face the Sacramento Kings on Dec. 11, and fans are already wondering what elite performance Jokić will deliver this time.
