Stan Son gives his top NBA DFS lineup advice for Tuesday’s NBA Showdown contest on DraftKings between the Heat and Magic.

This is the third iteration of the Battle for Florida this season and it comes in the NBA Cup Quarterfinals. The first two games were in Orlando with the Magic prevailing in both. Well, well, well. Tuesday’s contest is also in Orlando. Talk about things that make you go hmmmm. Take off the tinfoil hats because these teams meet two more times after this one, with both games in Miami.

Miami is first in pace while Orlando is 12th. Miami is sixth in defensive rating while Orlando is fifth.

The Magic will be without Franz Wagner, though, who suffered a high ankle sprain last game. In addition, Paolo Banchero is still getting ramped up after dealing with his own injury and has played only 20 and 25 minutes in the last two contests.

DraftKings Sportsbook lists MIA as a 1.5-point road favorite over ORL with the total set at 234.5.

Captain’s Picks

Anthony Black ($9,000 CP): I’d rather pay down a bit at CPT on this slate so that I can fit in more higher-priced players, especially since I think can Black could match the production of many of the players up top. Black isn’t starting, but over the last 11 games, he’s been a significant part of the rotation off the bench. He’s put up over 30 FPTS eight times with a high of 42.2 FPTS. Black is playing around 28 to 32 minutes a night and could receive a workload in the upper range of outcomes due to the Wagner injury and ramping up of Banchero.

UTIL Plays

Desmond Bane ($8,000): When these teams met last Friday, Bane finished with five points, three assists and one block in 33 minutes. He shot 2-of-16 from the field. I’m not expecting a repeat of that performance because he’s too good of a player. In addition, he will likely have to shoulder more of the offensive load with Wagner out and Banchero still not at full strength. The likely outcome is that Bane finishes in the 30 to 40 FPTS range, but he went over 50 FPTS four and five games ago.

Jalen Suggs ($7,400): The big issue for Suggs so far in his career has been health. He looks spry and healthy now. He’s always been a menace on defense and has racked up at least two steals in seven of the last nine games. The offensive bag has been deep as well, scoring over 20 points in four of the last eight games. Suggs has put up over 20 FPTS in every game he’s played this season, with 10 over 30 and three over 40 FPTS. In the last 10 games, Suggs has gone over 30 FPTS in all.

Bam Adebayo ($9,000): In the last four games, Adebayo has put up 22.2, 55.2, 33.2 and 60.5 FPTS. In a nutshell, that’s been Adebayo’s career. He has the ability to be a fantasy force due to his two-way ability, but he’s never been able to produce elite fantasy production consistently. The likely outcome is 30 to 40 FPTS, but a 50-burger wouldn’t surprise. Last Friday against Orlando, he contributed 55.2 FPTS.

Fades

Paolo Banchero ($9,800): Banchero missed 10 games due to an injury. Since returning two games ago, he’s played 20 and 25 minutes. Despite Franz Wagner being out, the long-term health of Banchero will likely take precedence over the pursuit of one regular-season win, even in the NBA Cup. As a result, I still don’t think Banchero receives a full complement of minutes, and minutes are half the battle. Yo, Joe! The price is too expensive for the expected playing time.

The Outcome

Miami will likely be getting back Tyler Herro while the Magic are a banged-up team. I like Miami to finally get off the losing streak against their Florida brethren.

Final Score: Heat 116, Magic 106
