Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II will miss the rest of the season due to a foot surgery.

DALLAS — Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II will undergo season-ending surgery on his right foot, the team announced Wednesday.

Lively missed more than two months last season due to a stress fracture in his right ankle. He previously had surgery on the foot in July to clean out bone spurs, according to ESPN.

The Mavericks said Lively will have surgery on his foot this time by Dr. James Calder at the Fortius Clinic in London.

Lively is expected to make a full recovery and be available for the start of training camp, the team said in a release.

“Dereck has handled every challenge of this season with professionalism and resilience,” said Dallas Mavericks Co-Interim General Manager Matt Riccardi. “While this is a setback, we’re confident in his long-term future and will support him fully through his recovery.”

Lively played in seven games this season.
