*This is a prediction*
One of the more shocking early storylines from the NBA season so far has been the recent debacle between the Los Angeles Clippers and Chris Paul. After Paul voiced his frustrations towards the organization and how things had gone so far, the Clippers didn’t take kindly to this and announced they were moving on.
Team president Lawrence Frank in his statement said, “We are parting ways with Chris, and he will no longer be a part of the team. We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise.”
Despite this, Paul is still on the team as they have yet to fully waive him as they try to see if they can trade him. It wasn’t looking promising at first, but recently it was reported that the Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves had interest in trading for him.
The Rockets and Timberwolves are rumored to have a “level of interest” in Chris Paul, per @BrettSiegelNBA.

This should lead to more teams starting to have interest in trading for Chris Paul, and one team that makes sense is the Atlanta Hawks.

Los Angeles Clippers Trade Chris Paul to the Atlanta Hawks
It may seem unlikely that the Atlanta Hawks, who have immense guard depth with Trae Young, Dyson Daniels, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker, would be interested in an aging Chris Paul who will retire after this season, but it could be the case.
Trae Young has been a player brought up as a potential trade candidate at the 2025-26 trade deadline. The Hawks would get an immense return for Young, and with how Daniels, and Alexander-Walker have been playing, they have shown they are the future alongside Jalen Johnson. Trading Young would bring their guard depth down a bit, as it would be just Vit Krjeci and Keaton Wallace on the bench.
With trading for Chris Paul, he would solve this issue. While when Paul did play this season, it wasn’t fantastic as he averaged just 2.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Still, Paul has plenty of experience in the NBA, and just last season averaged 8.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 7.4 assists per game, if he can get back to that, it will be even more beneficial for Atlanta.
Chris Paul would be able to provide the depth the Hawks need to make a full playoff push, all while also giving Paul the best chance to compete in his final season.
