The NBA has seen major coaching changes over the past year. Last season alone included the dismissal of Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone, Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins, and New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau.

The Los Angeles Clippers entered the 2025–26 season with high expectations. But they now sit with a poor 6–19 record. This has given rise to speculation that another major coaching change might be coming, which would lead to the dismissal of Tyronn Lue. However, Clippers president Lawrence Frank has now made his stance completely clear.

Clippers President’s Latest Comment Regarding Tyronn Lue

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, who reported the situation in his “Stein Line” Substack, the Clippers are not planning to part ways with head coach Lue. Despite the terrible start, Stein revealed that Lue is safe for now.

“As for the status of Tyronn Lue amid such a poor start, Clippers president of basketball operations Lawrence Frank has been emphatic in his support of his coach, insisting in a recent briefing with reporters covering the team that Lue is ‘going to continue to be the coach here for a long time’ and describing him as ‘my partner,’” read a part of the report from Stein.

Lue’s coaching résumé offers a strong explanation for why the Clippers remain committed to him. If we see, he began his NBA coaching career back in 2011 when he was the assistant coach under Doc Rivers with the Boston Celtics and helped the team with defensive strategies and also with player development.

He later followed Rivers to the Los Angeles Clippers in 2013. But he later joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014. There, Lue first served as an associate head coach. In 2016, he was promoted to interim head coach and then permanent head coach. Under the HC role, he led Cleveland to its historic NBA championship after a legendary 3–1 comeback against the Golden State Warriors.

Lue eventually returned to Los Angeles as the Clippers’ head coach in 2020. He currently holds a career record of 368 wins and 267 losses, which reflects his long-term success in the league.

Still, the Clippers’ current struggles have been hard to ignore.

The team has lost eight of their last ten games, including their most recent matchup, which was a defeat against the Houston Rockets on December 11. The game started competitively, with both teams tied 29–29 after the first quarter.

The Clippers looked sharp in the second quarter as they scored 25 points and took a three-point lead into halftime. But everything changed after the break. The Rockets put up a huge 64 points in the second half while the Clippers lost their momentum. Despite a late push, the Clippers fell short, losing 115–113.

The Clippers will next face the Grizzlies on December 15, and now one thing is certain at this moment: Lue is not going anywhere, and the Clippers’ leadership is standing firmly behind him.
