Warriors vs. Timberwolves: The matchup

The Timberwolves hit the road as slight 1.5-point underdogs looking to start a new win streak after winning a season-high five straight games through a 108-105 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Monday night. Anthony Edwards scored 40 points in the losing effort, which dropped the Timberwolves’ season record to 15-9. That mark is good for sixth-best in the Western Conference and within three wins of the current No. 2 Denver Nuggets (18-6).

The Warriors reside at the No. 8 spot in the West with their 13-12 record, but could have good news with guard Steph Curry probable to return Friday night from a quad injury. Golden State won back-to-back games on the road over the Cleveland Cavaliers (99-94) and Chicago Bulls (123-91) to add to the momentum of Curry’s likely comeback. The 37-year-old is the team’s leading scorer (27.9 ppg) and the NBA’s top 3-point shooter (4.7 3pm) in his 16 games of action.
