The Athletic’s Sam Amick has the Suns linked to Domantas Sabonis, and on paper, the idea feels like a fever dream. If Phoenix could pair one of the league’s most skilled interior playmakers with this current Suns team, it could elevate them in the Western Conference. In reality, the pursuit is far more complicated and far more revealing about where the Suns stand.
The Bulls, Suns and Wizards are believed to be on the short list for potential Domantas Sabonis trade suitors, per @sam_amick (https://t.co/NGgFlWwYc8).

How Domantas Sabonis could come to Phoenix:
Sabonis commands a massive salary and an even bigger share of on-court responsibility. That’s both the appeal and the tension. How could Sabonis fit in with the Suns? Would he fit in with the current core of Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, and Collin Gillespie? The cost is the other elephant in the desert. The Suns don’t have a treasure chest of picks, so any real Sabonis pursuit would start with actual players of value. That’s where league chatter drifts toward names like Jalen Green, the kind of young, high-ceiling guard Sacramento covets if it pivots. Now the question pivots to whether Phoenix would sacrifice a young, dynamic, talented shooting guard.

If the Suns are ready to retool their offensive structure and surrender real assets, then Sabonis would be a great player to go after. Although the way Phoenix has been overcoming so much this season and slowly creating its own identity, maybe changing things up this early wouldn’t be the right move. Even if Sabonis’ talents are enticing.
