The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the more curious teams in the NBA this season.

In a year where the Eastern Conference was decimated of so many of its star players and teams like Tyrese Haliburton and the Pacers, and Jayson Tatum and the Celtics, many expected the Cavaliers to seize their opportunity.

They’ve done anything but that to this point. Although Donovan Mitchell has looked great individually, averaging 31.3 PPG, 5.4 APG, and 4.8 RPG on 50.5% from the field, the team can’t seem to figure it out.

At 15-11, they currently would find themselves in the Play-In Tournament, and with the latest news today, they may just drop even lower than the 7th seed.

Evan Mobley to miss 2-4 weeks with left calf strain

The Cavs’ big man has been one of the few bright spots of this season for Cleveland. Mobley is averaging the second most PPG on the team (19.1), the most RPG (9.3), and the most BPG (1.6).

Today, it was reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania that Cleveland will have to figure things out without their starting big man for a solid stretch.

The Cavs do have Jarrett Allen as a solid backup in his place, but he just doesn’t provide the same level of play as Mobley.

Luckily for Cleveland, it’s still very early in the season with ample time to turn things around, but if they’re not careful over these next two weeks, they could dig themselves a hole too large to climb out of.
