PARMA, Ohio — The Fireflies at the Parma City School District’s First Step Preschool recently had quite a memorable visit.
The First Step PTA brought in the Cleveland Cavaliers Wheelchair Basketball Team for a special visit with the preschoolers, who shot hoops, bounced basketballs and shared their stories.

Principal Lara A. Svihlik credited First Step Preschool PTA President Hannah Cleary for organizing the event that included 332 preschoolers.
“The players demonstrated their skills and expertise and preschoolers had fun,” Svihlik said. “First Step Preschool is a Step Up to Quality Gold-rated preschool program and the Home of the Fireflies.
“First Step serves preschoolers with and without educational disabilities. The CAVS Assembly focused on gross motor skills, inclusion and community partnerships.”
Thanksgiving dinners delivery: Thanksgiving in Seven Hills again included quite a benevolent effort by Aiden Moore.
The Incarnate Word Academy sixth-grader donated a full meal to 15 families in the community.
Moore said his volunteerism was inspired by watching his Seven Hills Law Director father, Eric Moore, annually donate turkeys to the Seven Hills Food Pantry.
“A few years ago, I thought that, in addition to donating a turkey, we should also provide the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving meal — mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, gravy, yams,” he said.
“The last two years, my dad and Magistrate Corey Flowers provided the ingredients and I delivered the turkeys and bags of ingredients with (Seven Hills Director of Community Services) Tony Terry.”
This year Moore upped the ante by creating a flyer that was delivered to homes in his neighborhood.
He later picked up and delivered the donated items to the Seven Hills Food Pantry.
“I enjoy helping others,” he said.
