Miami Heat forward Nikola Jovic exited early against the Toronto Raptors on Monday game with a right elbow injury.

Jovic, 22, was going up for a dunk attempt in transition over Collin Murray-Boyles. Jovic was fouled in mid-air, tried to brace his landing and appeared to have injured his right arm while trying to brace for impact.

At first glance, it appeared that he injured his tailbone. The Heat medical staff even wheeled a stretcher out to him. But Jovic popped up without needing one, instead leaving in an arm/elbow brace around his right arm.

The team formally announced the news shortly thereafter. Jovic’s only stint of the night lasted 12 seconds without recording a single stat.

Regardless of the severity of the injury, while he appeared in good spirits, Monday was another example of the fourth-year forward being unable to catch any sort of break.

He missed most of his rookie season with a lower back injury; he entered the 2024-25 season with a foot injury before promptly breaking his hand in late February, when he was playing the best basketball of his life.

Through 25 games, Jovic’s start was quite uneven. Though Monday was an opportunity to build some confidence without Pelle Larsson and Tyler Herro, a late scratch.

In 18 games, Jovic is averaging 7.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists on 39.0 percent shooting and 28.3 percent from 3-point range.
