The New York Knicks will be looking to compete for an NBA championship later this season, and they’ll get a first taste of that winning feeling if they win the NBA Cup this week.

The Knicks will face off with the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Cup championship on Tuesday. While the team’s final goal for the season may not be winning the NBA Cup, it gives the Knicks a taste of a championship atmosphere early on.

Karl-Anthony Towns was recently asked about how the Knicks are approaching the Cup final, to which he says the team is using it as fuel to win the ultimate crown in June 2026.

“It brings that feeling of winning… When you get that feeling of winning, it’s addicting. I want us to get addicted to that mindset of winning the next championship,” Towns explained.

The Knicks will look to finish the job this week and earn the team’s first ever NBA Cup title. At 18-7, the Knicks have played very well through the first 25 games, and will be looking to put a stamp on their early season success with an extra accomplishment to hang in the trophy case.
