Bulls Granted Disabled Player Exception

NBA insider Jake Fischer announced that the NBA has granted the Chicago Bulls a disabled player exception. This comes after the Bulls reported that rookie Noa Essengue will miss the rest of the season due to shoulder surgery.

CHGO’s Will Gottlieb added that the exception is worth $2.7 million, which is half of Essengue’s first-year earnings. This is in addition to the Bulls’ traded player exception and non-taxpayer mid-level exception, according to Gottlieb. These exceptions give the Bulls significant flexibility during the upcoming transition periods.

Ayo Dosunmu Injury Update

Bulls guard Ayo Dosunmu spoke with the media about his ongoing injury and the team’s recent performance. Dosunmu revealed he has a sprain in both thumbs and a bone bruise on his right thumb. He also mentioned that the Bulls need to play harder to regain the form they had during their 5-0 start.

Billy Donovan on Pelicans Loss

Head coach Billy Donovan said that 82% of the Bulls’ three-point attempts against the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday were wide open. In that game, the Bulls shot just 26.5% from beyond the arc on 49 attempts. Notably, Coby White and Isaac Okoro combined for only 2 of 18 from three-point range.
