HENDERSON — Henderson ISD’s head girls basketball coach Crystal Mills will not be coaching for the remainder of the season.

The decision was made Tuesday by Superintendent Brian Bowman and Athletic Director Richard Meeks following an investigation into UIL violations.

“The district’s priority at this point is maintaining the integrity of the program for our students and complying with UIL rules,” said David Chenault, HISD Director of Communications.

Though not coaching basketball, Mills remains a teacher at the district.

The girls varsity basketball program is currently being managed by assistant coaches Keasa Bonds and Kenzy Castaneda. The district has not yet released a timeline for naming the program’s next head coach.

The Lady Lions (5-13) began District 16-4A play on Tuesday night at Carthage and continue their district schedule with a 5:30 p.m. home game against Pine Tree on Friday.
