The Jazz won consecutive games for just the second time this season when they came from behind for a 140-133 overtime win over the visiting Dallas Mavericks on Monday night. Los Angeles blew a 20-point lead in the fourth quarter but survived when LeBron James hit two of four free throws in the closing seconds to lift the Lakers to a 116-114 road win over the Phoenix Suns. Luka Dončić finished with 29 points and six assists, James scored 26 points, and Deandre Ayton went for 20 points and 13 rebounds as Los Angeles overcame a woeful 7-of-37 performance from 3-point range.
The Lakers have two wins over Utah this season, winning 140-126 at home on Nov. 18 before taking a 108-106 road win on Nov. 23. Dončić leads the NBA with an average of 34.7 points and also dishes 8.8 assists per game, while Austin Reaves scores 27.8 points a night. Ayton puts up 15.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest. Markkanen paces the Jazz, averaging 27.8 points, with George getting 23.5 points and 6.8 assists per game. Jusuf Nurkić, who rested on Monday, grabs 9.6 rebounds per outing.
