What are the Boston Celtics planning to do at the trade deadline?
This was supposed to be a gap year for the Celtics after they traded some key championship pieces in the offseason in Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis.
With Tatum on the shelf recovering from the Achilles tear he suffered in May, the Celtics weren’t expected to be a playoff team this season.
However, they have shown that they can still beat some of the top teams in the East and maintain a top spot in the conference.
If the Celtics feel like they got a chance this season they could be buyers at the deadline.
Celtics general manager Brad Stevens revealed what the Celtics’ plans will be ahead of the upcoming trade deadline.
“I think that we’re all still trying to figure out who we are and what we can be.
“We will not put a ceiling on this group. If it makes sense for us to look for things that can help us, we certainly will.
“But it all has to be within good deals. And it all has to be within the ultimate goal, which is the North Star of retooling so we’re in position to compete.”

Jayson Tatum could return this season
The biggest question mark about this Celtics season is the health status of Tatum.
If Tatum comes back before the playoffs, that would change everything for the Celtics. According to Chris Haynes, Tatum told him that he is going to return this season.
“He told me he’s coming back this season.”
If Tatum plays this season it will be a remarkable comeback and it would also put the Celtics right back into title contention.
