The Boston Celtics achieved the ultimate goal in 2024, winning the NBA championship. But it came after a steep learning curve, one that involved a Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors in 2022. And Jaylen Brown is still mad at Stephen Curry about it.
In the Celtics’ two Jays era with Jayson Tatum and Brown, they have made deep postseason runs nearly every season. Initially, they were competing against a prime LeBron James and then Giannis Antetokounmpo. When they finally made it to the final step, Curry got in the way. And Jaylen recently spoke about it.

“Steph took one of my rings,” Brown told streamer DDG. “I’m still mad about that sh*t. Cuz we should have won.” Brown then also went on to say that he would beat Curry in a 1-on-1 matchup.
In terms of talent on both rosters, the Celtics could be justified in thinking they should have won. But the Warriors’ championship experience saw them clinch it. What’s more, Curry finally got his Finals MVP, and it was very well deserved. Objectively, it’s hard to say that Boston should have prevailed.

In any case, neither team is contending this season. The Celtics are missing Tatum, and the Warriors have much bigger problems of their own. It’s hard to see how Brown might get a chance to take his revenge on Curry; they likely won’t face off in the Finals ever again.
