Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant will miss the Dec. 17 game against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a left ankle sprain.
Morant injured the ankle in the fourth quarter of a Dec. 15 win against the Los Angeles Clippers. He left the game with 3:44 left to play after stepping on the foot of a Clippers player and did not return.

Morant was originally listed as questionable to play, but he was downgraded to doubtful on the morning of the game.
Injuries have hampered Morant for much of the season. Morant has already missed 12 of the team’s first 26 games due to injuries. He missed one game due to right ankle soreness and 11 games due to a left calf injury. He also missed the entire preseason due to a left ankle sprain.
Morant is averaging 17.7 points and 7.5 assists.
Memphis will also be without emerging guard Cam Spencer, who is out due to personal reasons. Vince Williams Jr. will likely draw the start at point guard. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Jaren Jackson Jr. are among the committee of players who could be put in more playmaking roles.
