Dating back to his time with the Memphis Grizzlies, Dillon Brooks has caused problems for the Golden State Warriors. As a member of the Houston Rockets, his rivalry only grew with the Warriors as they met in the first round of the postseason last year. On Thursday night in Phoenix, Brooks picked up his back-and-forth with the Warriors as a member of the Phoenix Suns.
With the Suns clinging to a five-point lead in the final minutes of the game, Brooks was whistled for fouling Curry after a jumper attempt from the Golden State star guard. After review, Brooks appears to strike Curry in the gut region well after the ball has left his hands. Brooks was quickly assessed a flagrant one foul, sending Curry to the line for a pair of free throws.

Brooks’ foul helped crack the door open for a late comeback for the Warriors. After Curry buried both free throws, Jimmy Butler tied the game with a clutch 3-pointer. Despite tying the game, the Suns were able to hold off the Warriors down the stretch, 99-98.
Curry finished the game with 15 points on 3-of-13 shooting from the field and 2-of-9 from long distance while grabbing nine boards and dishing out seven assists in 33 minutes.
The Warriors will see Brooks and the Suns again on Saturday night for the rematch at San Francisco’s Chase Center.
