Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry wore a couple pairs of Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards’ signature shoes last Friday, when the ‘Wolves defeated the host Warriors 127-120 despite the two-time NBA MVP’s 39 points.

Edwards, who was out that night with right foot soreness, sat down with ESPN’s Shams Charania and mentioned how great it was for him to see Curry wearing his shoes.

“Yeah, I took a couple pictures. You know how they say you’re not supposed to be on your phone on the bench? They say it’s like against the rules. I was like, ‘Man, bump the rules. Ever since I was with Under Armour, since like eighth grade, I always wore Steph Curry’s. And then going to his camp, a couple years later, getting drafted, and then playing an Olympics with him, then seeing how cool he is and then seeing him wearing my shoes, just like I was a kid again. So I had to take the picture.”

Curry is a sneaker free agent after he and Under Armour parted ways after 12 years. He’s taken to wearing shoes honoring present and past players, with a few examples below.

Edwards is another example of this latest trend, and he was clearly thrilled that his Team USA teammate from the 2024 Olympics, which ended with their squad winning gold, honored him as well.
