Nothing went right for the Memphis Grizzlies on Dec. 20.

The Grizzlies (13-15) entered their game against the Wizards down nine players with various injuries. Brandon Clarke — who’s spent most of the season out injured — left the game early in the first quarter and did not return after suffering a calf injury. And then the Grizzlies proceeded to blow a 20-point lead and lose to the worst team in the NBA.

Washington (5-21) won 130-122 but still have the worst record in the NBA. CJ McCollum had 28 points to pace the Wizards, and the Grizzlies lost when a win would have brought them back to .500 for the first time since October.

Santi Aldama scored a career-high 37 points, but it wasn’t enough as Memphis didn’t get enough production from the rest of the available roster. Jaren Jackson Jr. had success scoring in the first half, but he battled foul trouble and ultimately fouled out on an offensive foul in the fourth quarter.

The Grizzlies led by 15 points at halftime, but that lead had evaporated by the end of the third quarter. Memphis only had eight available players after Clarke’s injury and couldn’t make enough plays down the stretch to win.

Memphis is back in action on Dec. 22 at Oklahoma City.

The Grizzlies blew a 15-point lead and are tied going into the fourth quarter. Santi Aldama has a career-high 32 points, but Jaren Jackson Jr. has five fouls and Memphis needs more scoring.

Jaren Jackson Jr. (20 points) and Santi Aldama (22 points) have paced the Grizzlies, who only have eight available players but have built a healthy lead in the first half.

Brandon Clarke exits with injury

In only his second game of the season, Clarke exited early with a calf injury. The Grizzlies announced that he’s doubtful to return.
