Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively’s foot surgery is officially complete.
The team announced Sunday that he underwent successful surgery on his right foot. The operation was done by Dr. James Calder at the Fortius Clinic in London.
“Dereck has handled every challenge of this season with professionalism and resilience,” said Mavericks co-interim general manager Matt Riccardi. “While this is a setback, we’re confident in his long-term future and will support him fully through his recovery.”
Lively played just seven games this season after dealing with swelling and discomfort in his foot. Lively’s last appearance was a Nov. 21 win over the Pelicans. He also missed roughly three weeks with a right knee sprain that happened on Oct. 26.

On Dec. 4, the team said Lively was seeking multiple opinions to deal with his foot issue. Dallas and Lively ultimately elected that season-ending surgery was best for his long-term health.
Missing time with injury is nothing new for Lively, who also missed over two months last season with a stress fracture in his right foot.
Lively has averaged 4.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 blocks in seven games this season.
