Well, they likely knew this was coming. The NBA announced on Sunday that Chris Finch was fined $35,000 for directing inappropriate language toward the officials and failing to leave the court promptly following his ejection.

The Oklahoma City Thunder couldn’t make enough big-time plays in their 112-107 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The playoff-esque crowd backed up their head coach after Finch was ejected six minutes into the game.

It was a huge win for the Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards and the rest rallied behind Finch’s ejection. He argued with the officials that the Thunder got away with a couple of non-calls on Edwards and Julius Randle. Minnesota finished with 47 free-throw attempts in regulation.

That’s one way to get a favorable whistle. Ultimately, it’s worth the price. But it’s likely not a sustainable long-term plan to get ejected every time the Thunder face the Timberwolves. There’s a lot of history and rivalries between the two teams that faced off in the 2025 Western Conference Finals.
