NEW YORK — Observations and other notes of interest from Sunday night’s 132-125 loss to the New York Knicks:

– At one point early in Sunday night’s fourth quarter, all four of the Heat’s other starters had more points than Bam Adebayo.

– As did three of the Heat’s reserves.

– With every Heat player seeing action with at least as many points as Adebayo with the exception of rookie Kasparas Jakucionis.

– No, Adebayo does not have to score to be effective.

– He still does plenty on the defensive end and the boards.

– But he can’t be a non-factor on offense.

– Because that ups the ante elsewhere.

– And it’s not as if the opportunity isn’t there with Tyler Herro out.

– Yes, Kel’el Ware has stepped up.

– Yes, the scoring has been consistent from Norman Powell.

– Yes, Jaime Jaquez Jr. again is fueling the second unit.

– But without a Bam boost until late, it becomes all the more difficult.

– And, lately, problematic.

– Either Erik Spoelstra has to find a way.

– Or Adebayo has to find his own way.

– As he started to, but only late, Sunday night.

– Even with the Knicks opening small, the Heat stayed with Ware in their starting lineup, as he opened alongside Adebayo, Powell, Andrew Wiggins and Davion Mitchell.

– Spoelstra said his lineup was about more than the Knicks’ lineup.

– “The league oftentimes is who can get to who and who can make the other team blink,” Spoelstra said pregame. “We have our lineup that we’re going with tonight, regardless of what they’re doing, but there will be some of that during the course of the game.”

– Back were Wiggins (back) and Mitchell (ankle) after missing Friday night’s loss in Boston.

– “I’m not even thinking about that, what they could have meant for that game,” Spoelstra said of the duo and the loss to the Celtics. “But they really worked, actually the day of the Boston game, yesterday, and even this morning to be available tonight. So it’s great to have them back, for sure.”

– Still out was Herro, missing a sixth game with an ongoing toe contusion.

– Herro made the trip, despite missing all three games, with Nikola Jovic (elbow) and Pelle Larsson (ankle) remained behind to rehab.

– “No, it’s part of the process,” Spoelstra said. “He’s working diligently as well. And as soon as he can get back to feeling like he can move the way he wants to move, he’ll be back out there.”

– Mitchell spoke pregame of his absence in Boston.

– “Just being a back-to-back, it was kind of still sore after it happened,” he said of being injured in Friday night’s victory in Brooklyn. “And we knew we had a game here, so we didn’t want to make it worse, honestly. It was a back-to-back, so it was a little bit more sore than it was today.”

– Of how it happened, Mitchell said, “It happened on a play. When Dru (Smith) got a steal and I stepped on his foot after the layup. That’s when it hurt throughout the game.”

– Jaquez Jr. was first off the Heat bench again.

– Followed by Simone Fontecchio.

– And then Dru Smith together with Jakucionis, who apparently now is a rotation player.

– Mitchell’s sixth assist was the 1,200th of his career.

– Powell’s second assist was the 1,000th of his career.

– Adebayo is now three games from tying Alonzo Mourning on the Heat’s all-time regular-season games list.

– The game marked the earliest the Heat have concluded a season series against the Knicks. The previous earliest was on Jan. 29 in 2003.

– So the Heat are done with the Knicks without having yet to play Atlanta, Houston, Indiana, Minnesota, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Phoenix, Utah or Washington.
