BOSTON — Pacers center Isaiah Jackson had his head evaluated for an injury in Monday’s game against the Celtics according to Pacers public relations and did not return to the game. Pacers coach Rick Carlisle after the game said that he thought the play that led to the evaluation should be looked at by the league.
The play in question came with about 4:41 to go in the first quarter when Celtics center Neemias Queta was posting up Jackson and appeared to hit him in the head with a swinging elbow twice.
“I hope the league looks at that,” Carlisle said. “It was a play that I felt should have been looked at in real time. It did not appear to be accidental. It’s very dangerous. And I don’t know how long he’s going to be out. It’s pretty serious. … It just can’t be missed. That’s all.”
Carlisle said he did not know if Jackson would have to go into concussion protocol.
“We’ll see how he’s doing tomorrow,” Carlisle said. “That’s how a lot of these things are. You see what the symptoms are the next day.”
Jackson played just two minutes in the game and was called for two personal fouls. He entered Monday’s game averaging 7.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game and shooting 58.5% from the floor. James Wiseman has been getting the backup minutes in Jackson’s stead with Jay Huff operating as the starters.
