The Washington Wizards are being monitored ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February for a variety of reasons.

Not only do the Wizards have several glaring holes on the roster that need to be addressed, but they also have multiple players who could be major additions for playoff-bound teams looking for an upgrade to their depth chart.

Whether the Wizards plan to be buyers or sellers at the deadline is still unknown, but based on years past, it’s safe to assume Washington will be active ahead of the deadline in someway shape or form.

Between the likes of CJ McCollum, Khris Middleton and even Corey Kispert, the Wizards have several players who could gauge interest on the trade market.

However, one player in specific has already seemed to peak the interest of an Eastern Conference foe who could be looking to capitalize on the Wizards’ slow start to the regular season.

Knicks could be interested in Marvin Bagley

According to James L. Edwards of The Athletic, Marvin Bagley could be a potential name to watch for the Knicks as they continue to look for ways to bolster their roster for what they hope to finally be the season they get over the hump in the East.

“The Wizards aren’t good, but Bagley has been solid,” Edwards writes in his article. “The veteran center, who is 26, can still score and rebound. If the Knicks wanted a little insurance behind Robinson and Towns, Bagley isn’t the worst option, given that he makes only $2.2 million and could probably be had for a second-round pick.”

It’s hard to argue with Edwards evaluation of where things stand for the Wizards considering they find themseleves at the bottom of the NBA standings once again.

In addition, we’ve already mentioned Bagley as arguably the best trade chip for the Wizards; at least in terms of players who could peak interest on the open market.

Bagley has proven to be a reliable backup option in the Wizards frontcourt this season and he’s even impressed in spot starts for Washington when he’s had his number called upon.

The Duke product could be a useful addition to nearly every team in the league and although the Wizards probably would prefer not to send him to an Eastern Conference foe, if the right offer presents itself, Bagley may find himself being dealt.

All that to say, brace for the chance that Bagley doesn’t finish the season in Washington.
